November 15

 Today we...

  • Did more research on laptops. We practiced taking jot notes. 
  • Watched "Jack and the Beanstalk", a production of the Alberta Musical Theatre Company. 
  • Played outside. 
  • Played "Farkle", a new math game in which we need to subtract from 1000. 
  • Created simple and compound/complex sentences. 
  • Played  Sideline Soccer challenge game in gym.

  • Made a convex lens using a plastic petri dish and one drop of water. 
  • Participated in Copperfield's Remembrance Day assembly. 
  • Practiced peaceful behaviour in our classroom.

  • Illustrated words.
  • Had a soccer challenge in gym. 
  • Solved the multi-step math challenge again! 
  • Played recorders in music.
  • Spent time free writing (so many novels and books are being written in class). 
  • Listened to our novel, "Barren Grounds".

 This year's Remembrance Day Assembly will be held on November 10th at 10:30. 

We are collecting donations for poppies. 

Students are welcome to wear service uniforms on the 10th (brownies, scouts, etc.)

  • Supporting our grade one buddies with their decodable books last Friday. 
  • Solving multi-step math problems. 
  • Taking jot notes about Alberta's regions. 
  • Listening to the read-aloud novel, "Barren Grounds". 
  • Frayer model about sun safety. 
  • Collaborative art for Remembrance Day.

Information Regarding Fort Calgary Field Trip

Field trip information - Forms have been sent out through the office's latest School Messenger email. Please fill out the student form and return as soon as possible. If you are able to volunteer, please email me. Please let me know if you are unable to print forms, and I will have a paper copy sent home.

Scholastic book orders will be sent home. They are also online: November Book Order - the class code is RC214500.

Calgary Food Bank - Please send non-perishable food items if you would like to contribute.

Learning included...

  • Research using bookmarked sites in Google Classroom. We are working on creating jot notes. This uses our reading comprehension skills, as we find the three most important words in a sentence. 
  • Solving math problems. Here is a link to a multi-step problem that we solved today: CLICK HERE
  • Reviewed our Remembrance Day Assembly songs. 
  • Gaining vocabulary by finding powerful words. We are turning words into art.  
  • Played in the snow, and our second recess was indoors. 
  • Gym - soccer!

 Some things that we worked on today...

  • Science experiments.
  • Multi-step math problems (we had to add three numbers, then subtract the total from another number!)
  • Rating how we are doing with character development skills, and beginning to set goals. 
  • Researching Alberta's six regions.
