  • Science experiments. 
  • Researching Alberta's regions. 
  • Learning a new song for Remembrance Day, watched Skeleton Dance, and played a game in music. 
  • Skittle soccer in gym. 
  • a game called "I Spy" in math. 
  • Learning to read facial expressions. 
  • Reading.

Today we enjoyed...

  • Symbols of Alberta.
  • Book exchange.
  • Playing a math game. 
  • Hoop puzzle in gym (traffic jam). 
  • Reading.
  • Writing stories (some of us are authoring books). 
  • Calgary Public Library presentation - Digital Collection. 
The sun has been rising later, but continues to be colourful.

  • Submitting questions for Mayor Jyoti Gondek, as she will be virtually reading to us on Monday (Halloween). 
  • Challenging group work in gym, crossing the lava. 
  • Secret Path - summarizing the Chanie Wenjack's story. 
  • Home Reading chart was filled out the package is in backpacks.

 Today was "Take Me Outside" day! It was gorgeous weather for us.

  • Sun print art at the pond. 
  • Scavenger hunt in nature. 
  • Scoops and ball toss in gym. 
  • Drama and writing interesting sentence starters. 
  • Math problem solving, finding the difference between numbers. 
  • Book exchange.

  • A successful fire drill (during PE). 
  • Laptops - speech to text or typing our Alberta Gem story. 
  • Music - recorders.
  • Playground with a grade 5 class.

  • Frisbee in PE. 
  • Social Skills story, "Should I Think it or Say It?"
  • Reading quietly. 
  • Wink Doctor.

  • Solving tricky subtraction math problems.
  • Building numbers to 10 000
  • Building scenes of reciprocity. 
  • Making text-to-self connections through our read-aloud novel, Barren Grounds.
  • Considering natural resources and reciprocity through a survival enactment at our pond.

Hallowe'en Happenings...

Halloween is just around the corner!  If students wish to dress up on Monday, they are asked to bring costumes to school in a bag and put them on after lunch. There will be an afternoon of Halloween themed learning activities. Please note: 

  • An easy costume to pull on over clothes is the best.  
  • Students can wear face paint to school.
  • Weapons are not allowed. 
  • Face masks can be worn on top of the head. 
  • Leave accessories at home so they don't get lost. 
  • No sharing of candy or food treats at school please. 
  • We will be participating in learning challenges, so inflatable costumes may be challenging.

Today we...
  • Completed a survey on laptops with Mr. Magowan. 
  • Played Place Value Junk It. 
  • Played at the school playground. 
  • Listened to the story "Henny Penny" and we practiced mindful breathing. The sky is not falling!
  • Read books. 
  • Listened to a chapter from "Barren Grounds". 
  • In gym we played "Boulder Dash".

  • Created shadows using any loose parts. 
  •  Quest Theatre - Hello Friend was a fun performance.
  • We had music with drama games. 
  • We played "Place Value Junk It". 
  • Started a Holistic Framework Wheel. 
  • We practiced reading. 
  • Played at the school playground. 
  • Zombie tag in gym. 
  • We worked hard and had fun.
